I use their Purrrfect Puss foundation almost exclusively. I think the foundation is well priced. I also like the concealer, especially since I can get it in a perfect match for my skin tone.

I don't like their blushes; I got a bunch of blush samples a year or so ago from several different blush collections and found every single one was sparkly or shimmery. There's nothing wrong with the product itself, but I prefer matte blushes so I buy them elsewhere.

Last time I did the calculations, their eyeshadows were on average twice as expensive per gram as Shiro's shadows. As such, I prefer not to buy shadows from them, unless they have something especially unique.

I ordered shadow and blush samples from them before and was underwhelmed. The eyeshadow samples are tiny for the price, and seemed to have a tendency to separate a bit on my skin when blending.

IMO, their website is horribly designed and hard to navigate (Delphi forums! wow) and the overly precious cat concept creeps me out, but I've heard great things about their foundation.

The quality is good, if not outstanding and if you look hard enough they really do have pretty much everything.

I ordered a couple of blushes from them that were meant to be muted peaches and corals and they really are very, very bright and strongly pigmented, which could be a plus for some- but as I'm quite pale I find that a little difficult to work with. I didn't have too much of a shimmer problem, the shimmer in the ones I ordered was barely visible.

The bronzer samples I was sent were very, very shimmery though, and I won't be able to use them except for a night out. I had hopes for the Skinnydippers for contouring, but they're far too light to make a difference (though I am reasonably confident I ordered the right colour). It does make a nice face powder though.

I have a soft spot for the customer service after finding little cats drawn on my order, I thought it was very sweet. I have no interest in powder foundation (dry skin and I'm a klutz) but I would return to them for other products again.

I suggest to purchase during sales to get the most bang for your buck and to save on shipping prices, as they can be on the more expensive side. That's not their fault however, just how canada post rolls.

I tried their foundation and found a perfect colour match, but with the heavy shipping cost, I find it hard to justify purchasing. Eyeshadows, they tend to have more of a pearlized/shimmer, I don't think they have any glitterbombs or heavy sparkle finishes. Some are quite beautiful and unique, and some are just 'ordinary' in the sense that you've seen them before.

They also have sales really frequently both on their facebook page and on their homepage.

Meow Cosmetics Empty Nice company

Post by lunamond Sat Oct 19, 2013 10:27 pm

I've ordered from Meow a few times: foundation samples, eyeshadows, and eyeliners. I've been happy with nearly all of my purchases. The foundations are good, though it can be a bit overwhelming to find the right shade and formula. I find them to be very reasonably priced. The eyeshadows have been hit or miss with me -- some of them are incredible (Skeptic, I'm looking at you!), and others haven't had great pigmentation. For that reason, I recommend ordering samples first to make sure you like the color before you order full sizes. They have frequent sales, so make sure you sign up for their newsletter or follow them on Facebook. The shipping is very fast as well. Maybe the only thing I would change would be to make the website more intuitive, with actual swatches on the site (so I don't have to Google them).

One of the samples I received in the sample exchange was Meow Cosmetic's foundation in Sleek Mau in their heavy coverage "Flawless" formula. This product has *completely* changed my view on powder foundation. It is hands down the heaviest coverage foundation I've ever tried in liquid, powder, what-have-you and doesn't make me look powdery (it is worth noting that I have dehydrated skin and moisturize heavily before applying foundation). Meow is not kidding around with this foundation! Personally for me though, I've begin preferring lighter coverage as my skin has been improving (in part due to neem oil!) and will probably go with their lightest coverage formula, "Purrr-fect."

I am also incredibly happy with their shade range. I'm planning on ordering a few more samples to try out during their next sale (one of the reviews on the experience forum noted that they have sales relatively frequently) to find the color that is absolutely my perfect match, but Frisky Absynnian in Purrr-fect is definitely one of the best matches I've found in my search (tied with Lancome's Teint Idole which is a bit out of my budget and is owned by L'Oreal).

I ordered samples of their foundations, a couple finishing powders, a couple eyeshadows, and the eyeliner sealant (which they don't manufacture).

Shipping time was a little slow, but once it was listed as shipped it didn't take too long for it to arrive.

Eyeshadow samples are miniscule, but they are enough for a couple of uses. I think they take sample to mean "what does the color look like" as opposed to "cheap mini version." Two free samples came with it, a matte green and a satiny blue. They both matched the ones I ordered decently well.

I got four foundation samples, and I quickly figured out which one was right for me. The samples of foundation are 1/4 tsp, and that's definitely enough for a few uses each, which is good.

The eyeliner sealant is nice, though it doesn't work too well with SUPER glittery shades.

Their website is an abomination. This is just a fact. It's tough to navigate and the cat theme can be a little offputting at times because it's like, geez, I like cats, but come on.

To get a good deal you should *really* subscribe to the newsletter before putting in any orders; I subscribed a few days ago and recently got a code for 20% off plus free shipping (on over $40) which I used to make my purchase of the full sized glow powder and a full sized foundation, as well as a liner brush. I'm expecting it will take a while for them to ship but I've seen the size of the full size foundation jars and the foundation matches my skin super well so I don't mind the wait.

I would only go to them for foundation, for the most part; samples are tiny and full sizes are more expensive than many indies, but I did really like the matte formula that they have, just fyi.

That being said, go to them for a powder foundation. Good stuff.

And WATCH FOR SALES.

I ordered from them based on the sheer number of foundation they offer, and the fact that they have options for exceptionally fair skin. I ordered a bunch of sample sizes in the Inquisitive level and found my match perfect pretty quick with Abyssinian. I ordered a full size of the foundation immediately and it's great. I see their mineral foundation working a lot better for someone without such a peach fuzzy face like mine, but other than that it's really lovely even if I do have to exfoliate the crap out of my dry patches to prevent flakes (this is not Meow's fault, my dry skin is like a desert and not the "usual" kind of dry skin). The foundation itself is incredibly gentle, layers really easily and can be built up without looking like you have an obvious powder on, and it's so lightweight it doesn't feel like you're wearing anything at all.

They send you a few samples with every order, and the ones I got were pretty nice. The matte eyeshadows seem to go on sort of patchy though, I noticed that with a couple of the mattes I got as samples. I did order a full sized shadow (Bast from the Egyptian Eye set) and loved it quite a lot. It was a glitter/shimmer and it was VERY pigmented and lasted quite a while even without primer. However, they're full sizes are a bit pricey than other indie brands and I'll second the other poster who suggests not getting them unless you really like the shade, quite a few of their's are easily duped.

Other than that, shipping and processing was pretty quick. I think I had my order processed in about 3-4 days, and shipped the next and it arrived in about 6 days. I was pretty impressed considering I don't live anywhere close to the base of operations!

Their foundation is great! Personally I have their Pampered Puss formula and use it almost daily. The blushes I have from their main collection are really nice too.

I do like their foundation, but the customer service is really weird/lacking. I accidentally ordered the wrong color of something, emailed them within an hour, and they told me there was NO WAY they could switch the colors or give me a refund. Something about "the payment's already been processed, and this is how our company works." That kind of response, to me, says "we can't be assed to switch it, sorry" and really put me off ordering from them again.
