VDC sells eyeshadows, glitters, blushes, highlighters and lip glosses. I've only had experience with eyeshadows and glitters so far but by golly are they fantastic. My favorite collection to date has to be Brains 4 Beauty which is sadly getting discontinued. All shadows I've received are well made, pigmented and came at a steal of a price. I'm a frugal little shit even though the prices are low to begin with but I still end up banning myself from shopping until VDC announces a sale then I go hog wild on everything - and VDC hosts a lot of sales.

I've never had a issue with any of her products or ordering though I have had some shipping issues recently. The business has been a bit behind the past couple of weeks hence my benefit of the doubt as well as never having an issue such as this before. It has not been resolved as of yet but I will update my comment once it is.

Cute packaging, the wait time for my pigments was like 3 weeks I think, my guess is due to the fact it's an indie company.

It took around twice the current TAT for my package to arrive, and about a week longer than the TAT on my order date. I was sent a tracking number at roughly the upper limit for the TAT, but the package didn't actually ship for another six days. There was, however, a nice note in my package apologizing for the delay.

EDIT: Originally I had an issue with swatch colors not matching the swatches on the website. My swatches were completely different colors. However, when actually worn, the colors were just fine! This meant that the swatch color and the color on my face were totally different. I don't know how or why that happened, and it never has before. Some of the shadows in the bag were also not the same color as those on the site, but when worn they turned out just fine. Magic!

The shadows themselves are good quality and boy, do they last! I wore one over $1 ELF primer and it lasted for 13 hours with very minimal migration into the crease. It only didn't last longer because I washed it off.

ETA: I've now worn several of the shadows and every single one of them has lasted 12+ hours with minimal creasing.

Awful.

It took me one day shy of seven weeks to get my order resolved. To the owner's credit, she answered my emails relatively quickly, but the length between her stated TAT and how long it took to get this mess resolved is ridiculous. Three times she promised the package was practically in the mail and three times I had to follow up and ask her to send the thing or give me a refund. By the time I finally drew a line in the sand and told her to give me a refund or I would go to PayPal to get my money back, I got my refund a half-hour later and a suspicious story about how gmail simply wasn't letting her email me. Almost laughably unprofessional.

Never received my package. I ordered on December 3, 2013 and 4 months later, I have no hope of ever seeing my package or my money back. All my communication with the company has been ignored, and I have waited too late to open a paypal dispute. I do not recommend!

Post by txteva Wed Apr 23, 2014 4:07 am

I purchased this as a gift - it was approaching the TAT and nothing had been sent out so I dropped her and email to confirm it would be sent and I was told I would go out the end of the week.
Nothing was sent and I chased again and she said it might be a few more days - I asked for a refund and this was sent over very promptly and without any issues.
She also accidently then sent the items after the refund and when contacted said my friend could keep the items.

From what I can tell she got a bit snowed under with orders and had some issues with her post office however she is proactively sorting both of these problems. She is very good at responding to communication and gives refunds without quibble so I would order from her again.

Product wise the colours and swatches I've seen look great and are worth the wait!

Victorian Disco Cosmetics Empty Issues but AMAZING customer service.

Post by Brikitty Sun May 25, 2014 8:58 pm

As my title indicates, there were some issues with my order from Victorian Disco. But I want to make it very clear I do not think any of these issues were the fault of the company/owner. It was more a bunch of bad circumstances, but I feel everyone should know it can happen. I made my first order March 9th of the March subscription plus a few odd shadows. On March 20th the April Subscriptions were released so I purchased it and sent Victorian Disco a note via Facebook to ask if the orders could be put together. I let her know I was absolutely fine with waiting the added TAT since I had made a new order. I also asked if I could have the second shipping payment in products, since I am international and shipping can add up. She got back to me right away and was very kind, letting me know that wouldn't be a problem, she would add the other items and send me my orders as soon as possible. On April 7th she contacted me because there was an issue with printing a label, since the system would not recognize my address (I have a PO box since I live in a rural area). I gave her my physical street address (which our post office can look up my PO box from). On April 17th I was curious as to what was going on with the package so I messaged her via Facebook again. She let me know she would be sending it out the next day. On May 12th I messaged her again and asked if she had a tracking code for my package, just so I could see if it had made it past customs yet. She messaged me back right away to let me know it had been returned to her (we don't know why, I have used both my PO and physical address to send things via USPS before). I wound up giving her the address of my previous work because it is the only place I can ship things that isn't a PO Box number. The package arrived on the 23rd. After opening it I realized it was missing the extra items I had requested in place of the second shipping cost. I messaged her to let her know they had been missed, and to make her aware I would be posting here just to make others aware of what POSSIBLY can happen. She replied immediately and also returned the cost of my shipping.

Overall, as long as it took, I am still happy. There were bumps in the road, but I love my new shadows (can't wait to play with Jelly Beans) and her customer service was stellar. I want everyone to know that if you have any issue she is wonderful at replying quickly and provides great service (even if you feel like you are being a pain in the butt for messaging so much).

Victorian Disco Cosmetics Empty Re: Victorian Disco Cosmetics

Post by molliver Sat Jul 12, 2014 4:00 pm

Ordered on May 9th
Stated TAT at time of order 3-4 weeks
Shipped July 8th
Received July 12th

I cannot say I had a positive experience ordering from Victorian Disco. I made my order on the day of her new website launch because I'd seen swatches of Kirin Tor online and the owner had said it would be put up for final sale when the new site launched, so I decided to bite the bullet and order.

On May 28th I got an email saying my order was 'Completed' but not shipped. Shortly after this the owner went on vacation for two weeks, my package still unshipped. I waited until a couple days after she posted on facebook that she was back from vacation to email her. I emailed on June 18th stating that my order had been sitting at 'Completed' since May 28th but had still not shipped and that I wanted to check in. I received a reply saying it was to ship out the next morning and that I should get tracking info within 48 hours. I did not.

One week later, the owner posted an in a thread on /r/IMAM and said that all orders from the sale had been shipped out on June 20th. I had not gotten tracking info and my account on the VDC website still said 'completed' not 'shipped' so I emailed her again to inquire. I got a reply stating that she would check her studio to make sure it didn't get misplaced.

I did not get a reply for 24 hours after that and decided to open a paypal dispute, except unfortunately I was a couple days past the 45 day mark. I got an email very shortly after attempting the dispute from the owner stating that she hadn't found my order in her studio but that it had gotten sent out and that she could refund me if I wanted or resend a package. Because she said that it was 'definitely sent out' I emailed back saying I would wait until Monday, June 30th to see if it arrived and that if it didn't I would prefer a refund.

I emailed on June 30th to say that I had not received my order and would like a refund. Around this time there were some weather issues in the area where VDC is located and the owner was having issues with her studio and having power. I did not hear back even after seeing some posts on facebook about how she'd been emailing people back so I emailed her again on July 5th in case my email had been missed or didn't go through. I did not get an email back.

I contacted VDC through Facebook on July 8th saying that I had sent a couple emails and didn't know if they'd gone through, but I had not received my order and would like a refund. I got a message back shortly saying that my order had actually just shipped that afternoon and I was sent a tracking number. I was extremely annoyed because she had told me my order shipped 2.5 weeks earlier.

I got my order today and am not pleased. I did not receive Kirin Tor, even with it listed on my packing slip. I did get everything else I ordered plus a couple of samples but I have not tried them out and am not sure if I will because honestly I am so fed up I will likely never re-order from VDC. I am very disappointed because the whole reason for my order was Kirin Tor. I admit I have not contacted the owner to ask about the missing item because I really just feel like I'm done dealing with this order. Ordering makeup should not be such a hassle.

I will never order from this company again. I ordered during the sale on May 9th and am approaching the ten-week mark and still have not received my products, despite being told three times that it has shipped out, and seeing on their Facebook page that orders made SIX WEEKS after mine are being shipped. The owner is responsive, but you get the feeling she is lying to you in those responses. I have email upon email of "communication" stating that my order is "almost done" and will be "shipped tomorrow!" "Shipped Saturday" "was shipped last Friday!!" (which was the Fourth of July....um okay??) I have a tracking number with the USPS that's been sitting at "Electronic Shipping Information Received" since July 8th, and today is the 14th.

Meanwhile, the owner is in the process of moving half a country away and advertised yet ANOTHER moving sale, which she recanted when Reddit jumped all over her because they didn't have their orders from the same day I ordered mine.

I  was partially refunded for an add-on part of my order once I stated that I was opening a PayPal dispute, and ensured that my order would ship. I got the same response of the poster above me when the owner was on vacation that, "[my] order must have fallen out in her car and [she] would check when she got back from vacation" - two weeks passed and I didn't hear from her. When I followed up, she said it was lost and needed to be re-packed. I said I didn't want her to re-pack anything because I wasn't asking for free products. No response. Two MORE weeks pass, still no package. I email her to ask for a tracking number for my package because I am leaving town twice this month. The response: "yes! Let me get that to you tonight!!" Annnnnnnd no response. I email her the following week - PLEASE may I just get a tracking number?! Finally, I get a tracking number and the assurance that she somehow magically shipped a package on an American national holiday, yet the tracking number is dated 4 days later.

Which brings me to yesterday. I emailed the owner one final time to tell her to please not send my package, I don't even want my money back, since it's long past the time for a dispute anyway, I just want to forget this whole thing ever happened. Of course, there is no response to that email, and at this point, I'm not expecting anything. The owner's tone in her emails has never been anything but friendly and it makes me feel bad to feel the way I do and to have to hound her for the products I paid for, but once you hear several times that she's done something yet it's ABUNDANTLY clear she is lying to you, you lose a measure of sympathy, despite how "nice" a person is. If I ever do receive my products, I am long past the time when I would be happy about it. I'm sure they're lovely, but I can't even see using them at this point because they will just remind me of the almost-hilariously inadequate business practices that are deemed acceptable by this company.

I have never ever ever had so much trouble ordering anything from anyone online in my entire life. If I could get my money back I would, but I figure it's a karmic lesson to never place faith in someone who swears they've changed their business practices, despite a myriad of different people claiming otherwise.

I ordered on May 23rd, my order was marked as shipped on June 21st, and it arrived either on the 28th. A full month. The TAT when I ordered was 2-3 weeks, but there was a further delay because of the shop going on vacation (which I think should have been factored into the TAT given!).

I don't think I will be ordering from VDC again. When my order arrived, a note was on the invoice stating that one item was out of stock, and that they had included some random extras to make up for it. While that was a nice gesture, I would have preferred an email or something indicating the color I ordered was unavailable, and either an offer of a refund or a swap would have been more appreciated. I emailed them about this, and was then told that this was an accident- that they did have the color in stock, and that they would send it out to me. This exchanged happened on July 9th, today is July 25th, so unless the TAT on that is as long as my original order, I have no hopes of seeing it.

I haven't even tried the other stuff I ordered and received from them, I am that discouraged with this "company"!

tl;dr Won't order from VDC again.

Made an order on Apr 4 for the Azeroth Collection (samples). TAT was 3-4 weeks and I received a "shipping notification" on May 3. Thats the second last day of the TAT. I expected it to arrive within the week but it didn't. I checked tracking and it had no infomation on it other than "Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS". I found it weird because a couple of days ago she sent out a bunch of orders and mine was part of that suppose to be part of that batch.

I sent the owner a message on FB about my order and she said that my order should have been shipped and that tracking should be updated in 24 hours. Fast forward a couple of days later, tracking still isn't updated so I sent her another message. Apparently my order could have been accidentally dropped and lost in her car. She went to look for it and lo and behold she found it in her car (she even took a photo of it for me). My order was promptly shipped after that and I received it a few days later. I was a little suspect over the "lost in car" thing but didn't give it much thought because I FINALLY received my order (May 19)... until I read about other people having their order lost in the car too... what.

The shadows were nice but the whole experience kinda ruined them for me. I don't think I'll ever order from VDC again. There are plenty more other companies with beautiful products, excellent customer service and I don't have to worry about my order.

Order date: June 27th
Arrival date: Has not arrived yet (October 5th)

Message 1: Sept 1st - Asked for an update on my order, told me she would get back to be.

Message 2: Sept 11th - Asked for that update, said it would be packed that night.

Message 3: Sept 17th - Apparently sent out already. Gave me a half refund in apology.

Message 4: Oct 5th - Still no package. Asked for a tracking number because I never received one. If it's not shipped, I'm asking for a full refund. I'm very disappointed in this order and I don't think I will order again. As nice as the shadows are, there are other reliable sellers who have similar products and I'd rather spend money knowing I would reliably get my purchases in the time stated. A week delay? That's fine. But three months? That is way too long. Not very professional at all and she has had multiple sales and a new collection coming out soon, yet my order is still in limbo. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I've ordered once from Victorian Disco - a few samples of the Oblivion glosses. The order came promptly and the samples were generous. The gloss formula is something I really adore - it's not sticky in the slightest and the color is divine. I got Daedra Hearts and Fire Salts.

Sadly, I will not be ordering from the shop again due to the sheer amount of complaints people have been coming forward with. I'll find dupes of the glosses from Fierce Magenta instead.

I ordered from VDC in the middle of this year. TAT was on the longer side, but not unusual. I ordered a collection of samples and some full size mattes. The non-matte shadows are wonderful pressed and are of great quality.

However, with the amount of complaints that the owner has received for not shipping out her products, and the communication problems that followed, I honestly believe that the owner should close up shop and never sell indies direct to customers again. The amount of problems are awful and cannot be put down to somebody still working out the ropes of an online business... This is simply somebody who is so disorganised they should never, ever sell to individuals. I have been an indie seller (though not with cosmetics) and I know what it's like. It's just simply not on. If you are too busy or illness is in the way, know your limits and don't keep making false promises.

I think VDC still has a chance of living on by either selling her formulas to another indie seller or selling only wholesale to one or two authorised resellers.

Victorian Disco Cosmetics Empty Never Again.

Post by Panda Sun Dec 21, 2014 5:23 pm

I placed an order in early October and didn’t think much of it until I realized it had been 3 weeks since I made that order. I promptly contacted the owner and asked about the status and was assured it would be sent out on the weekend.

So I waited, but nothing happened. I waited because I had never had an indie company mislead me as a consumer before this situation. After waiting another week I contacted them again. This time I was told that they were unsure where my order was but they would repack and “make sure it gets sent first thing in the morning”. So one month from placing my order I get an update from PayPal saying I have received tracking information. I sign up to be notified when it the package is moves/scanned. Being international I know it can take 10-14 days to get to me. This was cutting it close to PayPal’s 45 day dispute policy so I was keeping a keen eye on it. The tracking numbers never updated.

So of course I emailed the owner a third time and lodged a dispute with PayPal to reduce the risk that I would not loose my money. I did this because I was worried I would miss the window for dispute if I left it any later. I could close the dispute any time once the order arrived anyway, so there would be no harm done. I was then told that it had come back to the indie company as “return to sender”. I then received a new tracking number and told it would be resent. At this point I was skeptical since I had already been misled numerous times by the owner. So I watched the tracking and lo and behold, the new tracking number was lodged/printed/created or w/e but USPS never received the item again! So I escalated the claim. Paypal ruled in my favour very quickly and I received my refund.

I am at a loss as to why someone would intentionally mislead people. Consistently. The indie community has been way too forgiving in this situation. This indirectly impedes on the confidence consumers can have in other indie companies. I personally have not ordered from an indie group since as I feel I was taken advantage of.

I made an order with Victorian Disco a few months back and had no issues with delivery time or shipping. The order took a few weeks to arrive, but it was within the TAT. I haven't used all of the shadows I bought, but the ones I have used have been perfectly nice. They're not very exciting shadows, but they apply well and have good staying time and pigmentation. I did have to contact the owner with a question, and I got a prompt and helpful response.

Given the variety of indies out there, I don't know if I'll be making another order from VD, but my experience with that order was on par with other indie companies. From the other posts on here, that (sadly) seems like an anomaly.

There was a slight shipping issue, but it wasn't VD's fault. Apparently her local post office is rather difficult, and they had held onto my package at their sort facility (according to tracking) for over a week before sending it on!

Throughout this, she was very communicative and helpful, and prompt with email replies. Her packaging was secure. Oh, and the best part of course--lovely, beautiful eyeshadows!!

I will definitely buy more! Though I feel I should just warn that apparently her post office is commonly slow, so keep that in mind if you are impatient or in a rush.
