Araxias wrote:I really enjoyed the products I received but not the hassle I had getting them. I placed my order on April 1st, after 39 days I e-mailed the owner asking when my order was going to ship, I was told that she was back logged and having health issues but my order would ship really soon. I understand that things come up, especially with Indie companies because they are usually ran by just one or two people. What bothered me was the fact that she had another sale and released another collection. If you're having health issues and backlog from your previous sale and that's preventing you from getting things out why is it not preventing you from releasing a new collection and having another sale. At this point I wasn't going to write the company off completely, my things had shipped after all. On Tuesday, 3 days after shipping (not including the day of shipping or Sunday) my package hadn't moved or even been received by the post office. I ended up filing a dispute through PayPal and was prepared to file a claim if things didn't get resolved that day. I got a response to my dispute later that day saying she wasn't sure why it didn't show it'd shipped because she had shipped it on Friday. Now it's odd she said she shipped it on Friday because I got an e-mail saying it'd shipped on Friday. Later that day my tracking number updated and said it'd been received by the post office and was processing. I found this whole situation really fishy and I was bothered by it. I made a post about what I should do and a few other people said they had order late March/ early April and still hadn't received their products. I've heard nothing but good things about Detrivore but sadly I'll be listing this as a company I won't repurchase from.

Their Graveyard Collection is a bunch of matte neutral eyeshadows that KICK ASS. They had a coupon code at some point so I bought the collection + BSOD... follow them on FB etc. to find out about future sales. I think the best one is 50% off around Black Friday, if you can afford to wait that long to BUY ALL THE THINGS. Right now they're doing a 10 for $20 sale!

I have a jar of their primer, which comes in a little pot and is quite sticky. It doesn't hold up to creasing as well as UDPP on me, but is still good.

I've heard good things about their Embalming Tubes, and they seem to have a foundation collection on the way.

Had some weird technical issues with my order from them (couldn't add both the primer and the shadows to my cart--she kindly sent me the primer as a freebie) and the shipping was pretty slow, as is to be expected after a big sale, but she did respond promptly when I emailed for a status update.

I hate to do this, because my Detrivore order was the one I was most looking forward to.

I placed an order on April 1st. When I was getting close to the 45-day mark and hadn't heard anything (with a stated ~4-week turnaround), I emailed saying I would be filing a claim on day 45. She responded that she had been ill and would ship my order immediately. It shipped within a few days. I ended up waiting six weeks, and I only got lucky because I came in with guns blazing with the claim threat. Others have been waiting much, much longer.

Now, if she is legitimately sick and can't process orders, that's one thing. But during the time I was waiting, she not only had a second 10 for 20 sale, but released a whole new collection. But she's too sick to put orders out on time? Super, super sketchy.

When the shadows arrived, they were just thrown into a plastic bag with an invoice. No personalization. No apology for the delay. They're pretty, but one of them instantly oxidizes to a different color when it touches my eyelids (I have never in my life had this happen), and they all crease like crazy.

I wouldn't purchase from them again. It makes me sad, because I had a list ready for a second order that's not going to happen unless they seriously get their act together.

Here are some links to threads showing that others are having issues with shipping time.

Araxias: Waited 43 days, filed Paypal claim, order shipped ~3 days later. Check the comments - there are people who waited three months. (http://www.reddit.com/r/Indiemakeupandmore/comments/1ea9hx/i_feel_like_something_fishy_is_going_on_with_an/)

Me: I wanted to do a group order but decided against it due to the long wait. In the comments are several people complaining about the wait.(http://www.reddit.com/r/Indiemakeupandmore/comments/1deqg5/detrivore_group_order_anyone_us_only_closes_52_6/)

speakstruth: Waited eight weeks. Comments similar to the other two threads. (http://www.reddit.com/r/Indiemakeupandmore/comments/1eh2ch/detrivore_order_placed_march_20th_finally_arrived/)

Someone on MUA recommended Detrivore's mattes, so I took the risk and dove right in, buying the entire collection for about $50.00 as my first excursion into indie makeup. Let me tell you, I love it! The pigmentation is great, the powder goes on very smooth and I have little to no problems with fallout. There's a lot of neutral browns with a few fun matte colors thrown in. It's great to wear to work!

I've been a customer since 2011 and have always had good experiences, and have yet to receive any faulty product or unpleasant customer service.

I like that there is a variety of colours and finishes, particularly the mattes. The mattes have a cult following, and for excellent reason. I own several of the mattes, particularly of the Graveyard collection, and they are gorgeous. All smooth, perfectly blended, not chalky. Just all round great quality mattes. I own several of the satin and shimmer shades and have had equally great experience with them as I've had with the mattes. Again, all smoth and perfectly blended product. Samples are a generous 1/4 teaspoon for $1. Bargain buy.

I own 2 of her blushes, Harem and Fiend nad enjoy them immensely. Great matte blushes, and they come for a bargain price of $6 for a 10g jar.

The eye primer, I've only tried in the original formula. Has a nice sticky quality that really adhered the shadows to the lid. I have oily lids and have had to adopt patience with this product and find how it would work best for me. I found that I only need to swipe the product with my finger, then pat it on lightly on my lid. Otherwise I will get creasing. However that's no surprise because if you look at the ingredients, you see waxes and oils, which will of course, not work with oily lids if you have a heavier application.

Embalming tubes are quite a lovely lip balm product. Very moisturising and feel light on the lips.

The only thing I don't like about Detrivore are that there are not individual ingredients listings, which can make shopping a little difficult for those who are trying to avoid particular ingredients. There are however pages in her shop that show all products that do contain carmine. So if you're a vegetarian/vegan shopper, do make sure to check these pages (http://www.detrivorecosmetics.net/Contains-Carmine_c_29.html) whilst shopping! Whilst Detrivore aren't exclusively vegan/vegetarian products, the majority of their product is.

I haven't purchased from DC in a long while but I've been jonesing for their eyeshadow in Scar. I received this color as a sample and ended up using the entire baggie.

I've never had any issues with DC in regards to product, ordering or shipping. 10/10 will buy from again.

Detrivore Cosmetics Empty Still do not have my product

Post by Bunnyguts Sat Nov 30, 2013 3:38 am

I ordered the full graveyard collection in June 2012. I have not received my product. I knew when I ordered that there was a large hold up to the orders, so I did order understanding the risk. I waited patiently, and then many months later (almost a year) I received a shipping notice. This was a nice surprise!

However the product never arrived. I almost gave up except for a reddit r/indiemakeupandmore post that raved about the service. When I posted my comment someone encouraged me to contact Detrivore via email and ask. I had a good exchange at that time, and even had confirmation of a change of shipping details (I'd moved, but did have a post forwarding on).

However that was weeks ago. I haven't heard or received anything. I am international, so it may take sometime - but seriously. It's been 18 months.

I hear it's a good collection. I'd love to receive it.

I didn't have very many problems- while there was a bit of a wait after I ordered, I got everything I asked for in time. I did quite like the shadows- especially Disturbance, which I still use regularly. Reviewed here.

Detrivore Cosmetics Empty TAT is not kept - still has sales

Post by hap_chap Sun Jan 12, 2014 5:46 am

I ordered during the Black Friday sale and I received everything from every other seller (including OHWTO!), except Detrivore. Now it's been a few days past the 4 week mark and there was nary a post on her FB or a message sent out to her customers about the delay. I emailed her and she says she been bogged down by Thanksgiving sales and she still has health issues. I feel bad but I have to wonder, why have all these sales you can't keep up with? It seems she's still having trouble keeping up with her sales. Definitely my last order from her.

Detrivore Cosmetics Empty Detrivore from June 2012 arrived today

Post by Bunnyguts Tue Jan 14, 2014 5:30 am

After a bit of back and forth with addresses and apparent incorrect shipping, I finally received my order from Detrivore. It's the full graveyard collection and I've had a bit of a play with it tonight. I will never again say I don't have enough browns nor enough mattes. They are really very lovely.

I was kind of looking forward to a sample or two or a note or anything along those lines. There wasn't anything, but I am so relived to get them! And surprised honestly.

I should point out that I did order at a time I knew that there was a hold up, so I was prepared to wait for some of that time and never sent any emails to check on it. I didn't bother to inquire until a little while ago, and it's been a month or two since I did so. Customer service at that point was perfectly pleasant.

Detrivore Cosmetics Empty Re: Detrivore Cosmetics

Post by Seashells15 Sun Apr 06, 2014 7:01 pm

As of a few days ago, Detrivore Cosmetics is being distributed by Shiro Cosmetics. With any luck, this will correct previous issues with TAT and responsiveness. I wrote a blog post to provide more information:

http://www.indieknow.net/2014/02/big-news-about-detrivore-cosmetics.html

2/21/2015 update: As expected, the distribution deal fixed all the issues with Detrivore's super long TAT, shipping problems, and customer service complaints. I'm now very happy to purchase and recommend the products. Detrivore is tied with Blackbird for my favorite matte eyeshadow formula. I am head over heels for the blushes, especially Lilith. A few of the eyeshadows are underperformers (especially White Chapel, which I believe is LE) but in general I think the formula applies and blends nicely. I love the color range too - muted colors work so well for me.

Detrivore has a couple dozen general catalog shades currently available, as well as a few separate collections. Distorria also generally releases two new limited edition shades per month. I will eventually post about the GC shades, but I've reviewed all the collections and I'm regularly purchasing and reviewing the Shiro and Detrivore LEs at the beginning of each month. You can see everything I've reviewed so far under the Detrivore Cosmetics tag here (includes a few awesome reviews from my co-bloggers as well):

http://www.indieknow.net/search/label/Detrivore%20Cosmetics

And I've got the general catalog stuff up on Imgur so far. Here's everything over silicone primer and Pixie Epoxy:

https://imgur.com/a/21LgE

I screwed up by putting the mattes over PE, so I'll show them over just silicone primer when I get around to doing a blog post for them. They look patchy in the above album but look perfect over silicone primer.

I love, love, love the matte eyeshadows from Detrivore. I am also very pleased with the blushes and other eyeshadows. Detrivore's products were worth the wait imo but now that they are at Shiro, I can recommend them without any hesitation. I'm enjoying the new collections and hope to see more.

Post by BasorexicPoltergeist Thu Feb 26, 2015 7:20 pm

I have only purchased this brand through Shiro Cosmetics. Shiro has excellent customer service. My orders always shipped out within tat and arrived without issue. I have only purchased a few eyeshadows from Detrivore. The eyeshadows have good pigmentation and blend easily. I will be trying more in the future.
