Their pumpkin butter is fantastic it smells delicious and isn't greasy and you only need a small amount, it's changed how dry my hands are. Their sugar scrub is equally as fantastic, it's not crumbly and it actually glides on your skin and it exfoliated really well. I also got a sample of their absinthe perfume oil, it's not really my type of scent so I gave it to my mom and she loves it! Their turn around time was short (2-4 days) and I got my package pretty quickly. It was also awesome that I was refunded the difference in shipping, I was charged $8 for shipping but when it was shipped it only cost $4 to ship it so I was sent the difference back to my PayPal which was really awesome.

I've only tried the perfume oils thus far (shipping the pumpkins butters is too costly for my budget.) and have had mostly good experiences. I have noticed that there have been times where the description did not meet my expectation, so I have been disappointed. I say this as a consumer that is not a 'foodie/gourmet' fan, which is what HoG do best. I prefer more herbal, darker and masculine scents, so it's maybe no surprise that I get a little disappointed when it's just the Haus adding their interpretation on to things. Shipping and tat have always been prompt and I've never once had a problem with customer service.

Favourites: Spider Silk (halloween), Insalata Nocturna, Earl Grey (reverie drop), Milkmaid (spring) and Snow Wolf (winter).

Right off the bat I love love love how acessable their samples are; as a bit of a newbie to perfume, I am still trying to figure out what I do and don't like, and the Gloi samples are my best resource!

All the samples I received were complex and intriguing. While only one was really up my ally, I can appreciate the depth of the other, so that's a matter of opinion more then quality. I also got a free one-note sample which I found to be very true to life. The shipping was great, the packaging was very secure (always a concern with delicate glass...) and it came with a handwritten note and a cute candy. Definitely recommend!

Post by dee255 Fri Nov 22, 2013 8:23 pm

Really fast shipping, it's always less than 3 weeks to get to me in Australia, and usually only about 2. The scents are heavily favoured towards gourmands, which I love but might not be everyone's cup of tea. Customer service is fantastic - I recently messed them about a bit wanting an odd amount for a gift voucher for a friend and they were so helpful and accommodating, and responded almost immediately to my several emails.

I've tried a lot of the perfume oils and a few of the moisturisers and scrubs. Quality of all is excellent. They always include a free sample and everything is very safely boxed up with lots of padding to survive the long journey. Can't speak highly enough about them - I've ordered maybe a dozen times in the last few years and never had a single issue.

Ridiculously quick shipping! I normally receive the products within a week or less of placing my order. I love the sample of perfume included in every order and free shipping for perfume samples within the US! Britton and Matt are super nice and friendly. Quick responses to questions and they automatically combine shipping and refund the difference!

I really like HoG. They have a lot of great qualities: cheap shipping, good pricing, and a super-fast TAT. I've found that not all their scents work on me but I've gotten the hang of what notes will work and what ones won't. For me personally, their butter note is absolutely unbeatable! Whereas the honey goes kind of sour on some blends.

One downside is how small their general catalog is. There are only a handful of scents around year-round, and I wish they'd expand a little: there are only two GC scents of there I find that I have to own all the time (Mango Sticky Rice and Honeysuckle Lemon Curd). Their foodie scents are definitely where they shine, and some of the other ones are just okay (their florals are not as nice as I'd expect from the quality of their other blends)--though they do some really unique scents, especially in the Reverie. I mean, Golden Corn Cakes? Yeah, you're not going to find that anywhere else.

Haus of Gloi is one of my favorite indie companies ever! As far as products go, I really love most of the scents I've tried, and I appreciate that you can get samples, which give you more than enough product to try it out for a few days. Their customer service is also top notch- every time I've had a problem with an order, they have responded super quickly and fixed it. I also love the free sample with every order! Seriously not a bad thing to say about them (except for how quickly Reverie products go, but that's no fault of theirs!)

Haus of Gloi Empty Well Made, Well Blended, Well Balanced

Post by TheGreenBasket Thu Feb 27, 2014 9:41 pm

Haus of Gloi immediately became a huge indie hit for me. I can be picky with my scents, but after trying over a half dozen, I have yet to find anything I dislike from them. They are generous with their samples, and their scrubs are to die for. Some of my favorite scents are honeysuckle lemon curd (the SO claims that this is a good -ahem- date night scent for him, haha- iunno about that, but its a refreshingly clean scent) and litchi milk tea. I own a sugar scrub, perfumes, bubbling scrub, and soap samples, and all of them are divine. The thing that concerned me most was if the soaps/scrubs left a filmy or glycerine-y feel behind and I was pleased that they didn't! The soap holds up extremely well too! Having experienced a number of crumbly and/or melty soaps, I'm thrilled to see that they were able to work out a sturdy, but soft formula!

Haus of Gloi Empty Prompt customer service

Post by daisyismydog Sat Mar 01, 2014 4:35 pm

I haven't tried their actual products as I'm rather sensitive to scents (but they do have "aether" unscented products that are on my to-buy list) but I purchased some for a gift. One of the items I wanted to purchase was listed as out of stock (the soap sampler set) and I messaged them asking when it would be in stock again. I got a reply within 30 minutes (keep in mind this was definitely after normal business hours) saying they had updated the listing and the set was now in stock.

The item arrived promptly (less than a week) and was nicely packaged with some newspaper added as packaging. I received a free sample attached to a note thanking me (by name) for my purchase. Overall it was a pleasure to interact with them!

EDIT 5/30/14 - I've since tried out their aether body products and wrote a full review here. In short, I find the pumpkin butter as amazing as everyone says, the body emulsion to be like a regular lotion, the emulsifying scrub to rinse off cleanly and exfoliate well, and the bubbling scrub to leave a film and not be as scrubby.

HoG is reasonably priced, so I was able to try quite a few samples at a reasonable price. They shipped the day after I ordered and I got the order in about three days. I appreciated the fact that it came with a tracking number and the fact that a sample was included with my sample order.

The packaging is cute.

The scents are really nice, though most of them did not suit me.

Post by Ms_Sixie Mon Apr 21, 2014 7:42 pm

I've ordered from Haus of Gloi twice now, and I fully intend to order from them again.  They were the very first indie perfume company that I ever tried (actually, the first indie company that I ever tried, period!).  The turnaround time was insanely fast--I placed my first order on a Monday night, and the package was waiting for me when I got home from work on Thursday.  Their packaging is just lovely--both of my orders arrived in a small brown box, with a wad of newspaper on either side (the top and the bottom) of the products.  I removed the newspaper to reveal a sheet of pretty tissue paper printed with a pattern of green leaves.  Under the tissue paper was a square of paper bearing a personalized thank-you note from Matt and Britton, as well as a piece of hard candy (which was delicious).  The perfume samples and lip balm were packaged in a small drawstring bag made of gauze.  My full-sized perfume bottle was twisted up in tissue paper, like a gift.  The attention to detail taken with the packaging is very impressive.

My very first order consisted of three perfume samples--a small, cheap order.  I was delighted to find that they included a free sample vial of perfume with that little order!  I was also pleased to discover that, if you order just perfume samples, the shipping is free (in the continental United States, at least).

I ordered a lip balm with my second order.  The lip balm was shrink-wrapped when it first arrived to me, which I appreciated.

Generally speaking, their perfume oils are quite strong, and last for a very long time on my skin.

I definitely give Haus of Gloi top marks.  Their products are high-quality, and very reasonably priced.

I feel like one of the only people who doesn't absolutely love Haus of Gloi. And it's not because of their service or poor quality (both are actually excellent!), but the scents just smell muddled to me.

Except for Elevenses.

I fucking love Elevenses.

Haus of Gloi Empty Re: Haus of Gloi

Post by pornsophisticate Thu May 01, 2014 12:46 pm

I've ordered from Haus of Gloi several times now, and they were my first indie perfume experience.

Scents

Compared to other indie perfume companies, I find HoG shines at simple, straightforward, clear scents playing with a few major notes. That doesn't mean they're all single-note wonders. At all. Take, for example, Insalata Nocturna: it's fresh, green, and shines with lemon and tomato leaf (leaf, mind, not the tomato part). There are other notes but overall it rings loud and clear with the "fresh and green". It's very greenhouse-fresh and gardeny.

Other scents have a similar quality: a few notes backed by supporting players to really sing out the main qualities they're trying to represent, usually clued in by the name.

Where I find HoG a bit problematic is with the descriptions. They list the notes, but since they're not always balanced to bring all those notes to the fore (nor should they be, depending on what it supposed to smell like), it can be deceptive to read "cake" in the description and get only the faintest hint of cake in the perfume, instead finding it dominated by, say, tea (like in Elevenses). Since so much of perfume is in the expectation, I think many people find this jarring. So that would be my only improvement I'd like to see in HoG: better, more evocative scent descriptions to get a better feel for what the scent is all about, rather than a list of notes.

Product quality

Superb. I've tried the perfume oils, the hair oil, and the body emulsion. The perfumes are lovely, though the lasting time varies by scent, which is to be expected. The hair oil is wonderful, scented quite strongly, and a treat on the hair. It goes a long way, too, with generous sizing and only a few drops necessary for an application. The body emulsion is creamy and light, and blends in in seconds while providing a good amount of moisture. I use mine (in Twice is Nice) after every aggressive soap & water handwash (I deal with baby poop, I wash a lot) and my hands stay nice and soft.

Customer Service, Etc.

I received a mislabeled sample once, fell in love with it, and only discovered after ordering the full size that it was not the scent I thought it was. Britton and Matt were very helpful in trying to figure out what I really had, and ended up having me send the rest of the sample back to them. They applied the cost of shipping to my next order (on my request because that seemed simpler). I'm a little surprised they didn't offer to make up for the fact that I'd ordered a full size of something I didn't want, but I'm not going to hold it against them. Indie companies are already making a great product for much MUCH less than you'd pay in retail. Their operations are small and I'm giving them my business because I want to support them. I don't need a bunch of free stuff when their prices are already amazing enough that I can afford to smell like a bunch of things instead of dropping $100 in a department store on one bottle of smell-like-everyone-else perfume.

Packaging is great, nice little bags, plenty of padding to make sure my stuff gets to me in one piece.

TAT is great. Shipping time a little unpredictable given the weird route USPS takes to get me my stuff. (Not HoG's fault, obviously).

Overall I recommend Haus of Gloi quite highly. Their sample sizes are a great way to try a bunch of scents to see what suits. Their full sizes are a great price, and go a really long way.

Post by Weynard_Muldrake Fri May 02, 2014 4:43 pm

Ordered from them about 4x now. Ive liked most of what Ive ordered and of the scents I didnt like half of them worked well as cologne for my husband. I like floral/citrus scents and this shop does them very well.

I just used the custom perfume option and ordered 4 bottles of custom perfume and cologne and they are amazing. It really helps how they have their scents listed by top, middle, and base notes, otherwise I would have 0 idea on what to do there.

Their TAT is always so fast. Usually quicker than their stated time, which is also usually very short.

The only thing that has bugged me so far is that I have found it very difficult to get in contact with the shops owners to inquire about a product when the information needed about an item is not available. Even on their Facebook page it seems they ignore some questions from people and go on to the next ones. Apparently their contact form on their site doesnt always deliver their messages... and it takes a week or more to get a response. I guess they are really really busy. Its just weird because generally shops are able to get back to you within a few business days.

I've ordered from HoG ~4 times now, I love their products and their customer service! Their TAT is also phenomenal, I live just a few states away from them and I have never had anything take longer than a week to get to me from my order date.

The only issue I've had is with one package sent where my mail person had me pay extra because enough was not paid upfront for shipping. This has never happened to me before from other companies and in fact had not happened with other HoG orders. I emailed HoG to let them know in case their postage calculator was off or something, I wasn't even expecting anything because if they'd charged me right for shipping I would've paid the extra cost anyway and I wasn't upset, but they very nicely refunded me the extra postage.

I have also had to email once to have something removed from my order and the response was very quick and pleasant.

I love ordering from them and I definitely will again! I don't think I can live without their pumpkin butters now that I've tried them.

Haus of Gloi Empty Re: Haus of Gloi

Post by Berkshire0629 Tue Jul 22, 2014 7:26 pm

I recently ordered 2 full size perfume oils (Zazz and Narcosa). They shipped within the stated TAT. A tracking number was provided and everything arrived in a timely fashion. I received a small box, well-packed with newspaper and a tiny thank you note. I was sent a complimentary sample vial of perfume oil as well (Rose City).

I really enjoy Narcosa so far. The other two oils were different than I expected, though I did order Zazz blind. I'll let them sit around and see if the scents adjust at all. I was a little annoyed that they had full sizes for sale but were "sold out" of samples--would it not be an option to decant some full sizes?

Because of the short TAT (3-5 days), the fact that my items shipped on time, the reasonable pricing ($15 for each full size) and shipping charges ($2.32), I would definitely consider ordering again from this seller. At least one of their perfumes agrees with me so I have hopes that others would as well!

Haus of Gloi Empty Haus of Gloi

Post by Mephodine Fri Oct 10, 2014 1:50 pm

I've ordered from the Haus a few times. Their scents are hit-and-miss for me (I expected to like Lavender Sugar and Litchi Milk Tea but didn't, and I didn't expect to like Imp and Cozy Sweater). They're local to me, so shipping is lightning fast and super cheap.

I love their pumpkin butters and sugar scrubs - wonderful ingredients and the sugar scrub has worked wonders for my body acne in cleaning up dull and flaky spots. It even works well on my face, without leaving any sort of greasy film afterwards. The pumpkin butter is great for my hands. I work in an office moving in and out of cold and warm places and my hands get very dry.

My only gripe (which is very minor) is that they don't have much Cozy Sweater in stock and it's my favorite scent ever. It reminds me of my best friend. Alas, I am unable to reorder more scrub and pumpkin butter in this scent until the Haus restocks. Smile

Haus of Gloi Empty Wonderful

Post by Panda Mon Jan 19, 2015 8:28 pm

I made a purchase from Haus of Gloi when they restocked their yule line. I emailed the owner asking for advice on a fragrance for hair oil. I asked for something that smelled refreshing but not sweet. They recommended Madcap Garden, and honestly, now I have my order in my hands I couldn't be happier. It's the perfect scent. Exactly what I was looking for since I planned to use the hair oil every day. It's not over powering and the oil itself is amazing for dry ends. I did order some smaller tubs of pumpkin butter and I like them too but I think I'll be a little more picky with scents of the lotions next time. I will definitely repurchase from Haus of Gloi once I get through all my stockpiled body products.

Haus of Gloi Empty Re: Haus of Gloi

Post by Cteia Thu Jan 29, 2015 5:08 am

I ordered a hair oil and two samples perfume oils for the first time ever from an Indie company (HoG) on the 01/13 and it arrived yesterday (Italy's fault it took so long).

I was very scared since I live in Italy and they often stop perfume goods at the customs, however since the order was under 22€ they let it go through without problems.

The hair oil (Twice is Nice) is very good: I have very thin blonde hair and I was worried it would make my hair all oily but it didn't! It smells amazing too!

Troika is not really my favourite perfume, but I fell in love with Come Hither and Litchi Milk Tea!

I love the products but I love the amazing customer service even more, I can't wait to order from them again!!!

Haus of Gloi Empty Great quality, especially bath products

Post by so_schilly Thu Mar 19, 2015 7:27 pm

I've ordered twice from Haus of Gloi, and had a good experience both times. The first time it took the full TAT but not longer, the 2nd time the order was sent out lightening quick. I liked all the perfume oils I received, although I'm still figuring out what works/doesn't work for me scent-wise. Picaroon, Apothecary, and Moon Dog are especially nice. I LOVE LOVE the hair oils. I have thick, wavy, coarse, color-treated hair and the hair oil is a perfect product for them. It weighs it down just enough (I use quite a bit), and makes my hair look like a mermaid. Also the scent lasts forever in my hair. The bubbling scrubs also smell great and foam nicely, and of course the pumpkin butters are fantastic. I am very happy overall and will continue ordering from them.

Haus of Gloi Empty Re: Haus of Gloi

Post by homicidalunicorns Sat Mar 21, 2015 11:10 am

Product quality: High. Their scents are usually simple and sometimes better suited to bath products than straight perfume oil but the overall scent quality is good. The GC is just as good as the LE releases, and the products are varied. Basically every bath and body product they own is a staple for me, though as someone with very dry skin I do have to slather on the pumpkin butter in order to get its full moisturizing benefits.

Quality control: Decent. I've only had a problem with an order once, though I know others have had issues with missing scents, but I have noticed scents differing- sometimes dramatically- from batch to batch. One sample of Insalata Nocturna will be heavy on the fig, while another will be citrus city, or one batch of Rose City will strongly feature patchouli and another will only have it as a whisper. This can make reviews and full bottle purchases difficult, as the experience may be different from one order/customer to another.

Customer service: Okay, but experiencing growing pains. I've been in contact with them three times, once weeks prior to a release, the second during and after, and the third while still working on the second. 1 and 2 took a while to get a response. The first was to combine orders, and they didn't respond until after the first had shipped. The second was regarding a custom, and the process took weeks to complete and in the end the custom showed up in my mailbox unexpectedly without being 100% finalized. The third time I contacted them was during that customs process but for a different thing entirely (mislabeled product in another order), and they responded within hours.

Other customers have noticed a much faster response time when communicating with them over Facebook, though I haven't done this. They do have a very heavy workload at times, so I'm completely understanding, but I can see this being an issue for more time sensitive orders.
