Puur Body (Etsy) Empty Re: Puur Body (Etsy)

I mentioned in one of the threads in the sub that, of all the indie brands I've tried, the only one I wouldn't recommend is Puur Body and someone asked me to elaborate. I did, and decided to copy and paste it here too for reference:

"I will say up front that my issue was customer service-related, and that the people I gave her products to seem to have enjoyed them.

I ordered 3 body butters around Cyber Monday and they were marked as shipped 7 days later. Since the shop had good reviews and we were so far from Christmas, I didn't bother stalking the USPS tracking page like I usually do and generally assumed that my order would arrive in a reasonable amount of time. Over a week later, everything else I'd ordered from Etsy during my Cyber Monday/Christmas shopping binge has arrived, except my Puur Body order, so I finally check the tracking. From the day that it was marked as shipped, it took 9 days for the post office to mark it as "accepted"--which suggests to me that it was marked as shipped earlier but not actually shipped until that time.

All told, it didn't arrive until the 23rd, 21 days after I'd ordered, but that still wouldn't have been enough to put the shop on my "nope" list except that when I opened the package, it was missing one of the three body butters. If I'd made an order that had included all kinds of things and samples and whatnot, like my Shiro orders tend to be, I could totally understand one little thing getting lost in the shuffle. But, when the order is for three fist-sized items and whoever is packing the order doesn't stop to count to three to make sure everything is right, that's an issue.

So I contacted the owner about both the shipping delay and the missing item. She said that they had had "dozens" of orders misplaced at the post office for up to a week at a time, stating that it was their fault, not hers. I'm not really inclined to believe this, but even if it was the case, if she was aware of the issue she should have contacted her customers in advance about it instead of waiting to be contacted. As for the missing item, she cancelled that section of the order and refunded it after I contacted her, without asking if I still wanted her to send it (I probably would have chosen to have her send it even though it was too late to give to my intended recipient). She also offered to refund what I'd paid for shipping (~$3). I'm sure some people would have had no issues with this resolution, but it bothered me that she didn't just own the mistakes and apologize directly for them, if that makes any sense.

As a point of comparison, my Performance Colors order made around the same time was missing the concealer samples I'd ordered. I contacted Tiffany through Etsy, she apologized for the mistake, sent them out right away and included a few extra lipstick samples just because. I am totally happy with that transaction and am planning my next order.

Whew. Sorry about the length, but I'd rather err on the side of wordiness than misrepresent the situation. I guess the TL;DR is it looks like tons of other people have had issue-free orders but personally I found her customer service and potentially her shipping times to be lacking."

Fast shipping, nice products. I didn't have any customer service issues, so I can't speak on that. I ordered on 11/23, and received my purchase around 12/1, and I feel like this was an appropriate amount of time to take. I purchased the 3 balm pack:
The Kentucky Bourbon not so much bourbon, but more deep caramel & cherry flavor, it's nice though! Just not what I expected.
Husband loves the Star Anise balm, I'm not a fan of anise so I can't really speak on this one, but he has been loving it.
I have been enjoying the Mediterranean balm, this one is a bit heavy since it's more of a butter. Not one you want to keep in your pocket, though- it melts easily!
One thing I am not so wild about these are the somewhat poor pour- the product doesn't fill the tube very well, so the first several uses are kind of awkward since the product keeps breaking around the edges. Otherwise, I am pretty happy with this purchase.

Puur Body (Etsy) Empty PuurBody...Crap

Post by jsmith Wed Jan 21, 2015 6:45 pm

I have to say that this is only the 2nd time I have had an issue with Etsy sellers and their products, but I for sure will not be purchasing anything from PuurBody ever again. I learnt my lesson.

I had ordered two body butters from PuurBody on December 22nd as a gift for a friend who was going through a rough time due to her mother's health isses (Cancer). I know my friend loves body lotions and we both try to use Vegan friendly, natural/organic products. After searching Etsy for some time to find a 5-star-rated shop that sold these kinds of products, I ended up finding PuurBody. Everything about the shop looked good, so I ordered the Banada Bread body butter & the Mexican Hot Choc body butter. I asked to have them gift-wrapped but wasn't notified that I could purchase gift-wrapping, so when it arrived, it was wrapped quite poorly in burnt organge tissue paper that was torn (even though it was placed in a shipping safe envelope). I let it slide because I realized after looking back on the shop's Etsy page that proper gift-wrapping was a separate, purchase-able item. As I wasn't told this by the seller after checking out, I just let that issue go.

I gave the body butters to my friend. They arrived on Jan 5th. Decent time considering I ordered them just before Xmas. A few days after giving them to my friend, she calls me, apologizing that she absolutely cannot use the lotions. When I ask her why, she tells me they are too greasy, thick and impossible to rub in. She also mentioned that the jars were only slightly more than half-full. So, I visited her a few days later and I gave them a try. Low and behold, she was right. Not only were the jars only a little over half-full, but I put the lotions (I tried both) on each hand and arm and rubbed them in. First off: couldn't rub them in. It was like putting paste on my skin and it actually hurt to try to rub the lotion in. Secondly: thick, greasy lotion. Seriously, it didn't even absorb into my skin. AFter more than 3 hours of having the lotion on, it still hadn't absorbed, so I had to wipe it off. My friend told me that she had the same issue.

Because neither of us could use them, my friend ended up giving them away. The scents, I should mention, didn't even smell like they are named. So, all in all, a bad shopping experience. I gave each lotion a 1-star review on Etsy. I haven't heard from the shop owner and I wasn't contacted by her AT ALL to talk about the low-rating of her products. If she were concerned, I imagine she would have contacted me about them. I mentioned in my review that I was embarrassed by having given these crappy products as a gift that someone couldn't even use. Well, I basically spent $30 on two lotions smaller than my fist that we had to give away. I essentially gave away $30. Not impressed. Terrible seller because of lack of customer service. Bad products. Never shopping there again.
